Do These 4 Things Between Class to Keep Up Your Technique
Relearn Your Routine With Gustavo Machado Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in Sarasota!
Without consistent practice, your Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu skills can fall by the wayside, and unlike riding a bike, it’s not easy to get those skills back again. Gustavo Machado BJJ Academy is one of the best Jiu-Jitsu schools available to train with, and today, we have four things you can do between classes to ensure that you’re at the top of your game and continually nailing your BJJ technique.
Build Your Game Plan
Developing a plan for every attack means you have an inventory of techniques to fall back on during your matches. In your downtime away from the gym, break down one to three techniques for each position for when you’re on both the top and the bottom. As you begin to work your way through the list, ask yourself if you have a technique for each position. If you don’t, use your time between training sessions to work on those missing techniques and develop a game plan for every attack.
Dissect Your Strengths and Weaknesses
To grow into your BJJ Training, you have to understand your strengths and weaknesses on the mat. While you’re developing your game plan, it’s also a great time to break down your liabilities. Rate yourself on your technique, strength, and mental stamina. What are the weaknesses in your approach that you can focus on during downtime?
Set Your Goals
Goal setting is essential when it comes to excelling in the techniques of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. It’s the only way to measure your progress and provide a feeling of accomplishment. Use your time between training sessions to decide what your biggest goals are and the timelines you think are appropriate to achieve those goals. After that, start working backward, identifying small goals with shorter periods that will help you achieve those big ones!
Keep Your Training Journal Close!
We’ve said it before, and we’ll repeat it again, make sure that you spend your off days completing and studying your training journal. Every time you’ve finished a training session, write down the type of training you completed and the outcome. Spend time visualizing the activity and techniques you used and make notes on what changes you want to make to your approach before your next training session.
Just because you’re in-between training sessions, doesn’t mean you have to stop perfecting your BJJ techniques! Unlike most Jiu-Jitsu schools, Gustavo Machado Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is here to help you achieve your individual goals, increase personal physical fitness, and prepare you to compete in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competitions at all levels.
